I’m originally from Terre Haute, Indiana. I have a degree in painting from Indiana University and an MFA in photography from Indiana State. I live in Clarksville, Tennessee, where I taught at Austin Peay State University for 37 years before retiring.
I’ve employed many different processes throughout my professional life, including black & white gelatin silver prints, hand-colored silver prints, the 19th century wet plate collodion process (tintypes and glass negatives), hand-coloring digital prints, and color photography. Because painting was my first love, combining it with photography is something I return to again and again.
My work has been included in 25 solo exhibits and over 100 juried and invitational group exhibits across the United States. I’m the recipient of a Tennessee Arts Commission Fellowship in photography and a Kodak award for photographic educators. My work is held in numerous public, corporate and private collections.
